Yeah I heard! I suggested we do another one for you and the Olers as none of you made it. Just do it down south this time with a smaller group. I'd like to get some more practicing and testing in this season. Start another chat on FB and we can get another one organized!
We had to be very close for all transceivers and we only tested in searching. I did not run a test with a transceiver in transmit. I'd like to do more tests like I said, our focus was more on practicing our single and multiple searches in single and group scenarios. It was just something I...
Had a transceiver search with some friends this weekend and we tested our transceivers with the below devices. ALL of them sent a false signal in close proximity. So if you carry any of the items below in your front pocket and you are searching there is a chance that they will send a false...
No I didn't open up the interior that much. You literally would have to demolish everything and I wouldn't have been able to reuse anything from the interior.
After having a tether malfunction last season, if I can offer a piece of advise to anyone using a tether, take the little plastic/metal clip off and throw it in the garbage. Use a carabiner in the loop where the clip was.
Funny you mentioned them! I called and they have roofing in Edmonton only. They are so far the least expensive, but I'm trying to see what used stuff I can find first. Doesn't have to look pretty, and literally is only needed to shed the majority of snow. I am unfortunately under the gun to...
On another note...if anyone has some tin roofing/siding kicking around they are looking to get rid of I am looking for a deal! :) I'd need enough to cover 2: 18'x5'
Well my wood stove came in! The guys at work were pretty stoked to try it out so we had a little fire in it Friday. Still getting over pneumonia but had a very productive weekend. Got the snow roof up. Just need to put some more braces for transport and get some tin. I'll put the tin on in...
Funny, I had planned on that but I was too scared to crawl underneath it, lol. They were also doing me a huge favor so I didn't want to take anymore time than I had to.
Well I've made my decision on which stove to go with. I'll be ordering the Newport Solid Fuel Heater. It's the most complete kit, it seems like the safest option and it will help me dry my gear. I still have the furnace and a ceramic heater as back up or to get the camper warm fast. Should...
Just went through that thread. Great information. It's nice to see someone take the time to post up the actual numbers with a list of things they carry.
Well I wish I had gone with my gut instinct originally and done this from the get go, but I decided to rip the bathroom out and make room for a wood stove. Wood heat is dryer and will help me dry my gear this winter. I'm trying to decide between the Grizzly Wood Stove and Newport Solid Fuel...
