Ski scratchers suck if thats all you have. They only help lube the tips of the rails really. They do not throw snow into the track that then gets flung around and into tunnel where it can cool sled. Ya gotta run a skid set too with the ski ones.

What is too hot? Mine always 95-100F in snow, and when loose snow on trail. But if its icy, like Blue Lake was yesterday in the mid part of trail. She heats up to like 150-160F with scratchers. Cools down soon as the fluffy snow is found.
