Looking at going to yellowstone to do some sledding. Just the 2 of us, where would you recommend to stay? Would like to do the ole faithful thing and do some trail and powder riding.Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I would be dang sure there is snow there before you go. Its been pretty skinny the last 3-4 years.
That must have been right before the thaw. Have friends that went down there in mid Feb and there was 2-3 ft packed snow tops. Heard it got even worse after that.We have gone down the last three years and dont worry about snow. It was unbelievable last year. We rode in untracked chest deep powder for 4 days.west yellowstone is good park your truck unload ride from hotel for gas supper to the bar grocery store etc. Unless you want to ride 15 miles an hour all day and stop at every bird and broken tree branch on the trail on a rental gutless sled(cause you cant ride your own)dont bother with old faithful. Ride two top and black canyon trails.
Worst place I ever rode a sled last Feb. Hadn't snowed for over a month and was icy. If you are used to riding in mountains then Two Top isn't much to brag about. Most exciting thing we saw the whole week was ol faithfulWe have gone down the last three years and dont worry about snow. It was unbelievable last year.
