WE ARE BACK
Good Morning. Well finally some good news on the clubs maintenance program for Cataract Creek. Friday we received temporary approval to groom and clean up the trails. Our "Double D" grooming team went out this past weekend and started to set up the trails for grooming. The snow is getting better but it's the type of snow that is hard to work with. Cold temps works great for grooming to set up better but cold temps causes sugar type snow which isn't the best type of snow to work with for trail grooming.
So I would like to thank all the club members who worked on our OHS Plan approval process. It took a lot of time and frustration but so far it's done. Now the government needs to catch up on what the volunteers are doing for them out on the land.
So now we can hope for some more snow and time to get out there.

Thanks for the update Glen and extra thanks to all people(s) involved with getting the OHS plan together.

On another note, is the Porker Rally on for this coming weekend? It is still listed on the Club calendar on Teamsnap. I unfortunately have not been able to attend the last couple club meetings so I haven't heard anything about the poker Rally since the decision to re-schedule from January.

Poker Rally is a no go for this season.. way to much paperwork to be approved from PARKS dept in order to get it going. Poker rally is a big fundraiser and promotion for our club and area. With the money we have we will put it towards summer trail work and signage projects.
If any club members want to help in the area in the future please send me a private message here or from the a Calgary Snowmobile website and we will get you trained as a volunteer to work on the trails.
Thank you

I took the better half out today and it was great fresh on the trail sun and about 0 for temp. Big thanks to the grooming your efforts do not go unnoticed.
A big THANK YOU to club member & groomer operator Darryl Lennox (The Accessories Shop, High River) and his two club member cohorts/trail maintenance-tree clearing sledders - Darrell Belanger (D&S Auto, High River) and Kevin Thurber (Rafter T Trucking, Vulcan) - for putting in the time (20+ hours over 2 days) to smooth out the trails south of Cataract Creek on March 9-10. With out their efforts, the trails would not have been as smooth there since.
To compare, the Club rode on March 16-17, at Cataract, and the trails north of Cataract Creek (Etherington & Valley Bottom, but I suspect Baril Loop and Raspberry as well) were whooped up pretty good in places.
The Lost Creek Road south to the Falls was great, lots of snow.
The grooming crew got done what they could, given the time that they had.
The will be no further grooming at Cataract this season, unless there is a large dump of snow, with the large groomer. With its' steel grouser bars on the tracks, more damage may be done given current conditions taking it out from the maintenance yard to the trails, then it is worth.
The only caveat to this is if we are able to have volunteers do some grooming with the club's snowmobile and small drag, and probably only on the the trails out from the parking lots and Raspberry Trails. But no promises........
