Well I have been wrestling with something and I thought I would throw it out for feedback. I have a 2013 Pro 800, 163 and a 2013 Pro 600, 155 that my kid rides. From Day 1 we put Z-Bros A-arms on the 600 as he is hard on sleds and the Z-bros are cheaper to replace.
So anyway from day 1 the 600 felt way lighter than the 800 and they are suposed to be only 5-6 lbs different due to track length.
I have recently realized that the Z-bros shock mount on the lower a-arm is in a lower position than the stock a-arms. Now I realize that these Z-bros did not change from 2012 to 2013 or maybe they sent out old stock?? The 2012's have bigger bolt holes for the shock mount so if you are using them, you need to get 2012 lower shock bushings or come up with an alternative plan.
The 2012 Pros had longer shocks than the 13 too, so using these a-arms actully lowers the front end about 3/4" and in turn may put less weight on the skis. I actually lifted the clutch side of both machines and put the ski on a bathroom scale. The 600 came in at 119 lbs and the 800 at 129 lbs. If the other side is the same, it would be 20 lbs more on the skis of the 800 compared to the 600.
I was careful to make sure both sleds had the rear and middle shocks set equally and I measure the limiter straps to confirm they were the same length.
Finally, both sleds have about 1500 kms on them and the 600's front shocks have way less damping now so i am wondering if these things are wearing out prematurily? Like I said the kid rides hard. Both sleds have the same part numbers on the shocks so I expect they are valvesd equally??
If anyone has ideas to explain further on wy that 600 feels so light compared to the 800, I wouldlike ot hear it.
p.s. I know the longer track makes turning more sluggish but I dont think it should effect ski pressure and the 800 definately takes more effort to turn the skis, moving or not.
