Yamaha sxr 700 triple

hey guys! i just bought a 01 yamaha sxr 700 and have never ridden one yet , whats the power like? and whats the gas mileage like on these sleds? can anyone help me out?

Depends on what your comparing it to? For a 700 not bad on the power and decent gas mileage. Nice in the fluffy snow.

Hey Hey. well buddy i have me an 04 sxr 700 triple so ill be able to help you out!

I found that the power is great, very fluid and quick responding and fuel milage is just as good as any other sled, the shits Haha they are 2 strokes, a full tank of fuel will get me about 120-140 kms. One thing i found though which i dont know if it is different from the 04 vs the 01 is that my oil resevoir is very small, as in 1 tank oil to one tank gas. Make sure you have it filled up before riding and i like to carry a watter bottle full of sled oil to add whenever i throw my jerry can off gas in just to make sure. Seizing an engine doesnt sounds like fun to me. Love my sled and i suggest swapping out that HUGE stock can for a after market silencer, Makes the triples sound SO cool and you drop bout ten pounds. well my 04 is rocking the 159 inch track so she loves the powder, ive really had no problems with mine, one suggestion though is if you plan on heading to the mountains do a lot of reading on the clutch weights cause there are so many different variations you can use, what i did was i found some one with the same sled and used his set up for the mountains but yeah its a great sled loves the powder, i got a fingertrack on mine and it still rips in the powder along with the hardstuff

i live in ontario so i got a reg 121 inch on it. but my neighbor has a really nice field that me , my dad , and my brother ride every year , and i do alot of ditch banging , my o'l phazer was great for that because those sleds have very high rpm so as long as u keep ur speed u will do great , but occasionly u will get stuck but its so light anyone can get it out! but i 'm selling it because my dad bought a nytro last year and thier was no way i was keeping up! so i bought a sxr 700. thanks for all the info!!

Oh yeah, these things peak HP at 8000-8500 rpm, you keep your speed up you'll go through anything even with the 121, you be able to walk he no problem too cause i can almost walk mine with the 159
