great bike! tough and reliable, gobs of torque. they hold their value well and there is a lot of stuff you can do for mods. unless you are 6' 5", I would suggest a lowering kit if you are doing a lot of trail riding. I had one from Devol, it just replaces one of the linkage pieces in the rear suspension and drops the seat height a few inches.

talk to Rudy at Scona Cycle if he's still around, the guy has been all over the world on a 650....there's nothing he doesn't know about them.

power up kit is a nice addition, increases throttle response and adds a couple hp. the dyno jet power up kit was the only aftermarket performace item I have ever bought that installed and worked exactly as claimed, no fiddling around. if it doesn't already have, get a K&N filter and prefilter as well as a decent slip on or full exhaust system. I had a Big Gun ceramic coated setup, looked way cool and sounded awesome. another great addition is a set of pro taper bars, they really take a lot of vibes out of the handlebars.

If you ever decide you don't like your six fitty, let me know....I would love another one....:D

pm me if you want any info on plating it, I have done a few of them now. it is the perfect specimen for a dual sport conversion, other than the lack of a battery. I'm currently riding a plated '06 450X, I sure miss the stability of the 650 on the slab rides.

yeah, they are a bit shorter as well as lighter, and air cooled instead of liquid. even more reliable than the 650R, much better trail machine.

You wont be disappointed with the 650. The weight and torque may take a bit of getting used to but i'm sure you'll learn to love it. My buddy used to ride one and he kept right up to us on our 250 2strokes in the bush no problem. Out in the open that 650 would pull past us like nothing once it got going.
