For some reason my shop was built on grade beam as opposed to slab, the floor is strand-board on 2x6 joist. Stregnth is not an issue as it's just for sleds, quads, garden tractors etc. moisture is my concern. Sleds come in wet & melt off, wood gets saturated & rots.

What have others done? I was thinking about installing floor drains and then using a roll-on box liner coating, coat the floor and bring it 6" up the wall. But I do question how it would hold up to the skags.

Thoughts? Ideas? Solutions?

***Aside from pouring a slab... that is the long term goal but for now I need a short term fix...

I'm going to follow this thread, right now my floor is just painted, and I make sure I put the dolly wheels under the skis when moving the sleds around in there...... Something more durable would be fantastic.

Saw this guy on the island he used marble, looked pretty sweet. But all he was parking in there was his Porsche so im not sure how it would hold up to the carbides. What about a dura deck type stuff or fiber glass. I used a roll on layered system fiber glass for my deck, then you could utilize a floor drain system and it is pretty durable but you would need to have wheels under your carbides at all times. Just a thought

On the covered deck at the Fernie cabin we have T&G 2x8 fir for a floor. When it rains and the snow melts in the spring we have a lot of water underneath. We are doing a Resito product, a peel and stick, over the 2x8's and then covering that with 1/2" treated plywood. It is 20x12 and we will doo it for well under $500. I will get the name of the product later. It is $155/roll and 1 roll covers 195 sq.ft. It is an idea Bogs.....I know the carbides on the plywood isn't the best but you could put something to run the sleds on when driving in and then place the skis on dollies to move the sleds around.

I don't know what it would cost? But I would look at putting down marine grade plywood, and buying a squeegee. Your brother might be a good person to ask too.

I bought some roll on DuPont for my wood trailer floor. Then squeegee to a drain is really the only option. Holds up pretty good to skags but i always have a spare can around for touch ups at the end of the season. would probly cost 500$ to do a garage .That or let it rot! Since your replacing it anyways.
