Recently on my Vinson my winch has quit working. Lately it has been intermittent but now it is not working at all.

I took it apart and cleaned it up and wanted to bench test the winch to see if it was working before I reinstalled everything.

Can you just run power from a battery with leads and see if the motor moves? Reverse the leads and the motor should spin in the opposite direction right?

As you can see I dont know a lot about winches but they cant be that complicated.

I hooked up a set of leads and nothing happens.

Help please.

That will work, but it doesn't prove the switch, relay and associated wiring to be good. The problem you describle could be the relay, switch or wiring.

I agree but I wanted to make sure the winch was actually working.
