How much experience do you have? Remember the Safety gear, and take courses when you can?

Now if your asking if the sled will beable to getter done in the mountains, I'd say yea without issues.

Yup you'll be fine. It's a little harder to manouver believe it or not in deep powder but will climb most any hill you need to.

The mountains are like a ski hill. There are green areas and black and everything inbetween. Valemount is excellent there is always something for everyone to ride. Just use common sense and go with peeps that have been before and you will have a blast!! Ride safe.:d:beer:

I have never been there before just started riding last winter. I was just wondering if my sled will be able to get around.

I will be going with my cousin and some friends who have been there quite a bit.

Is there anything you can think of other than this to make it work out a little better in the powder?

move the spacers on your skis to the outside so the stance is narrower. also remove the sway bar. will help.

For a new rider I would try and get the skis as close together as possible as Maxwell stated. Leave the sway bar as it changes the handling too much on that sled. Other than that when in doubt gas is your friend!! Use it! If you go to Alan stay closer to the cabin. If you go to Clemina "morning glory" is a good place to start. Stay more to the right as you enter as there are creeks and such more to the left.

Sounds good do you think there will be enough snow to ride the Nov 27 28 29 weekend?

yes there will be tons. but stay out of clemina area until after xmas. or at least take it easy. if you see it in the summer you would never go in there early season lol. allan creek on the other hand is an easy 2 days of riding.

Throttle can be your friend or your worst enemy. Use caution when exercising throttle usage. Remember its easier to dig out of a hole or tight spot than to go wide open and pick parts of your sled out of the trees and off the hill. You will learn fast enough when and where to use the throttle and when to grab the brakes, but don't let your first mountain experience be a bad one. Nothing's fun about coming home with a sled that's in more than 3 pieces.

Go slow and don't be afraid to tell people you're a newbie, not being honest about your riding ability can have really bad consequences in the mountains. We all started sometime, and no one is perfect. Don't get pushed into something you aren't comfortable climbing or dropping into. Too many times I've seen bad things happen to good people because 1 or 2 people in the group pushed everyone to riding an area they weren't comfortable with. Split up the group if necessary, stay on the starter stuff until you get the hang of throwing the sled around and using the throttle to help you turn. the throttle will help you sidehill, that's something you have to feel on the mountain though, no one can tell you how to do it.

Check with Curtis from VARDA. On this site he is Depsnolvr. He could tell you anything you want about conditions and even likely conditions at each site!

and back to the sway bar. there is a dissconect kit for like 40$. so you can hook it up once you head back home.

I took it off after my second ride. I like being able to pull it over without fighting the suspension.

Thanks man,.

Interesting track choice I'm guessing you picked up the idea from Irondog on Dootalk? I'm putting a 141x15x2 on my 09 Gade for this year.

Regarding mountain riding you're just going to have to use more throttle and keep your momentum up to follow 154+ machines. Disconnecting the sway bar, letting the limiter strap out and rotating the transfer coupling blocks out of the way will help in the deep.
