Just read this in the Sun online.

A head-on crash involving two snowmobiles resulted in three patients being rushed to hospital, including one with “severe injuries,” late Saturday afternoon, says Whitecourt RCMP.

Police say two snowmobiles collided sometime around 5 p.m. in a remote, and heavily forested area two kilometres north of small town roughly 180 km northwest of Edmonton.

And since the area was hard to get to for rescuers because of the dense bush, a spokesman with STARS Air Ambulance says it was called in for a “search and rescue operation.”

“We know that the injuries are severe to one of the patients,” said Staff Sgt. Rodney Koscielny with the Whitecourt RCMP.

That patient was rushed to an Edmonton hospital by STARS, says the spokesman. No word has been made on the patient’s condition.

Koscielny says police will be investigating what happened that led to the crash Saturday.

No word has been made on whether or not any of the patients involved in the crash were wearing helmets.

Were they on the golden triangle trails? Wasn't very clear as where they were. Paper said they broadsided each other. Do they mean that they hit side by side or rather they hit from opposite directions? I hope that they all come out all right regardless.

All that's circulated around town is that a Female from Edmonton suffered a broken femur after a collision with another snowmobile while riding a pipeline in the Whitecourt area.
That's all i've heard so far. Hope she's doing ok.
