I have 2009 skidoo Renegade MXZ 600 etec. I bought it used (just a couple weeks before the warranty expired) so basicaly one full season of use. It had 5,700 km (3,500 miles) on the odometer but looked like mint condition. I bought it, barely put another 1,000 km (600 miles) on it this past winter due to poor snow conditions so now hitting approx 6,600 km.

Around here, that's considered high but it runs like it just came off the factory floor and I'm extremely pleased with it. I guess my question is: At what mileage point do I need to be concerned with replacing parts due to wear or engine maintenance. I've seen posts by some people that say they average this kind of mileage annually and have the same sled for 5 and 6 years or more.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

well it all depends, if you take care of it it will last longer. I would say at about the 5000-5500 mile mark you will have to start replacing stuff.

yupp.....deffinetly change out the pistons and inspect the crank at this time.

it may seem ok and the compression may check out OK..

but who knows how long before a pistons fails

glad to see some high miles on the new etec.

what compression does the machine make currently? cold and warm with the throttle wide open both plugs out

Have heard that some etec have 20,000KM with no engine work. The 600 etec are very reliable. The 6 2009 summit 600 etecs I have have around 6000KM each on them with no engine work. I will be getting new ones for next season so these are for sale.

I broke my throttel assembely with my chin LOL. next time ill let off at the top :d
