What I was told was to wait until this fall,. Samsung will be releasing their 3mm thick LED TV in Canada and this will drive down the current prices of the 1.5" ones.

I am waiting to get a 55in Samsung LED later this year,.. by then maybe their will be more 3D tv options.

I was in Visions last week and they had a 46" LED tv for $1900, but I want a 55" :d

i've got an lcd, and prefer them over plasma, but that said i have also been looking around a bit myself and the led's do have a much better picture.

but do yourself a favor and don't cheap out too much, take a good hard look side by side on a cheaper model versus one in the mid range and there is a pretty significant difference...........but i think the biggest thing is personal preference each has its own ups and downs.

happy shopping

Vizio is getting great reveiws. I have and like very much the Samsung products. If you get and LCD LED TV make sure it's full backlit LED and not just the perimeter type. In the LCD LED categoary Sharp Aquos is getting good reviews.

For a dark room (i.e no natural lighing) and fast moving viewing ( action games , golf, baseball, hockey) they say plasma, For a bright room (with windows) LCD @ 120 Hz .

I have a 40" <biggest to fit over the fire place> Samsung 710, 240 hrtz. LCD and I absolutly love it !!!!! I am waiting for the 56 down stairs to chit the bed and buy one for the home theater... It has a graet pic. bright colors, and when watching something in HD you almost feel like you are there, the pic. is so crisp and clear...

We have 2 plasmas (I know, not so helpful, but just wait!)
One is a Panasonic Vierra, the other is a Samsung not sure on the model.
I prefer the Vierra. The Vierra has a matte look screen, and I find that there almost no glare and reflections while you are watching TV. The Samsung has a glossy screen and I find that if you are watching during the day or with any lights on, there is a glare and reflections on the tv. We have a very bright house during the daylight hours- so it makes a big difference!

ALSO, Invest in the BluRay player that matches your TV - our Vierra BluRay player is so dummie proof, as soon as you pop in the DVD it it goes to the right input right away, and both remotes control both - so your not scrounging for the DVD remote all the time! LOL

I have a 58" samsung plasma 600hz and love it, if I was going to get a new one it would be a LED no question.

I also have a 37" LCD by vizio and for the price its unbeatable, great picture too.

Hmm... Strange. Kevin had his before I came along, and we've been together for just about 3 years now - never had a problem.

But the point of my post was kind of aimed at the finish of the screen - make sure you choose one that is compatible with the room that the TV will be in!

IF it were me buying a new TV I'd tryout the LED - because it's the newest technology!
