To rebuild an aerocharger it pretty much needs to go back to aerocharger themselves.. The reason you cant turbo the 740 may be due to cylinder wall thickness as well as compression ratio..

I would just stick with the 740, that engine will make enough HP to easily haul you around. And unless you are good at tuning a turbo would be more trouble than what its worth. Be happy your have a 740 mod engine, when I was 14 I was riding a 1980 Polaris 340 TXC free air.

I agree with slabm7 and also the fact that if you put a turbo on your fuel costs will go up by quite abit.. Being that you`d have to run race gas.. And to get it tuned in is abit of work. Also you mentioned something about turbo needed rebuilt.. The price for that isn`t cheap as last i checked with the exchange and freight and all it was over 1000.00

well then i guess ill just buy the sled with the turbo on it.
It is a 670 Turbo in a 2000 Hymark ZX Chassis he wants $2500 for the sled and turbo. What would u say?:(

Don't buy a Turbo period, a carbed sled with a turbo can give you alot of headaches unless you know exactly what you are doing. Ride your 740 Mod for a few years and save your money to by a newer chassis, like an m series, rev or dragon. That 740 will make you a better rider than a turbo ever will.

Sorry to be negative Nancy but like slabM7 said, you should flush your dreams of turboing that 740. Way more hassle than it is worth. How much do you know about pressurizing carbs? Rotary valve angles? Compression ratios and octane requirements? timing?

Besides that, any older style 53 series aerocharger is not worth the hassle. They do not do well at boost levels above about 8 psi. This is probably the reason why it needs a rebuild, someone probably tried to see how much boost they could make....BOOM. You could call it a ticking time bomb if it hasn't gone yet. Blow up the 740 and turbo and see how much it costs to replace it..........
You haven't even ridden the sled yet. That 740 will impress you with how much power it has. Maybe figure out how to tune the 740 first before you turbo it.

Like I said in your other thread, I can maybe put you in touch with a guy in Kamloops that had a turbo 670 if you want some information. Don't buy a used turbo sled unless its a newer M series EFI sled or a 4 stroke IMO. You are just inheriting someone elses headaches otherwise.

Ok

I wont buy that sled then.

My dad was looking at a i think it was a 2006 m7 mod with a turbo 240 hp and the weight of it was 400 pounds wet and that was a killer. Is that something that u would think about buy>?
I think he was asking $12000 for it. ( the sad thing is that the guy still has it for sale. He has only been trying to sell it since JAN 08.) It was for sale on snowandmud.

Any way G2G

How about learn to ride the 740 before you dream of something bigger. That 740 is probably pumping out more horsepower than needed. Just ride it.

I just thought i'd add a little thing on here about this turbo M7.. It claims that it has 240hp at 10lbs boost, i call not due to the fact that i've seen M1000's with turbo's only making just over 260 at 10lbs boost... I also HUGELY question that weight as a buddy of mine has just put a M1000 into a carbon fibre chasis, carbon fibre rr susp, lightweight front end, boss seat, titanium bolts, turbo w/o intercooler.. As well as other goodies to lighten it up and it still comes in at 475 lbs wet... So yes a M7 would be lighter but not when it appears to still be in a stock chasis. I understand that thunder guy is just going by what the add says and this is why i put tthis info on here for him..This is just my 2 cents...
