I am looking at going to a turbo viper. It will be my first 4 stroke so looking for some advice. What is the best kit? I am looking at a 270 mcx or a boost it. I have heard set up is everything so any pointers? I am getting a 15 for the better motor for sure.

There is probably some boost it kits still around & they are the best viper kit i have tryed.
No issue with fires on alpine kits if a viper caught fire it wasnt the kits fault just saying lol

I have found 1 of each to look at tomorrow. Anything special I should check out?

Never had any issue in 3000km on my boost it kit other than drivers killed them lol.
Just check for anything melted that looks like it was overheated & clutches some guys with turbos are hard on them lol
As for mcx i think they had a update for the oil loss issue make sure it has it done.

For those that have ridden both the viper and sidewinder.....is there THAT big of a difference? It kind of sounds like it. Or are there changes a person can make to a viper to make it behave like a sidewinder?

They can be made closer with shock changes & some parts but hard to replacate, motor sits a little diff & turbo is centered makes a big difference.

Sidewinder is so quik moving side to side comparded to my viper & power is smoother than aftermarked turbo kits & that makes it easyer to ride.
