I was just past the start/ finish line. I saw the wreck but didn't think much of it as it didn't look bad. The big one earlier on the back stretch looked worse with Tony flipping through the air. When the race ended I burned down to the Racing Radio stand to turn in my scanner and meet my buddy that was sitting a section away. It took forever for him to get down as he was a big Sr. fan. When he got there he was in another world. He said he thought Sr. was gone because of the blue tarp. I said it was impossible as Sr. was to tough to die in a small wreck like that one. Long story short. We waited around with fans outside the track for word and when it came everybody starrted bawling. Very emotional to say the least. It was a long trip back to the hotel thats for sure.:(:(:(

I remember thinking that crash was to small to claim a life. That shouldnt have happened.

Bristol would be fun. A restrictor plate race would be fun too.

Bristol is on my bucket list for sure. As excited as I was to go to Daytona I doubt I would go again. Watched most of the race through binocs as the cars are a mile away most of the time. Daytona and Talladega are way better on TV. Haven't missed a Nascar race live or recorded since Daytona 1996. I've seen a few now.

I read in Time magazine after they said they did a poll in the U.S. and 91% of the people polled knew who Earnhardt was and only 76% knew who their president was. That is an amazing statistic! So much for Nascar being a regional sport for southerners.:nono:

The HANS device was developed specifically for Earnhardts type of injury. I'd like to go there as well. My guy, Kenseth always runs well there. Not so good at Phoenix though. But the golfing is great so it evens out. Lol.:d

i think the COT was a big joke... it changed racing so it wasnt much racing..

You would like Phoenix as well. And Jr. always runs strong out there.

Just got off the phone with Dad. He enjoyed His father day gift this year. 2 tickets to see Steve Earle! Back when he was trucking for a living he wore out all his Steve Earle tapes, and had "I aint ever satisfied" on the back of the bunk. I miss that old truck.
