I have heard people talk about tightening the straps up on their tracks, what would the benefit of this be? does it stiffen up the suspension? I was looking at mine and I am set at about 1/2 right now, I ride mostly cutlines, some trips to the mountains, but mostly try to stick around swan hills, whitecourt etc...

I like mine loose, like to have the front end up. kinda takes the skis out of play sometimes, but alot of fun. It's all personal preference though.

with the strap loose, the front of the track is down more, thus approaching the ground at a sharper angle, may cause the sled to push more snow before it climbs on top. with the strap tight (front of the track sucked up), you will have less traction on harder packed trails and snow, which maybe more difficult to bring the front end up...all personal preference though.

Too much strap length = less ski pressure = skis totally useless in pow ( which they are usually any ways ). Check your wear sliders on your skid. If you notice more wear on the front of the slider - tighten the strap. I would tighten the strap and try the sled ( more ski pressure ) but when your at full throttle more power is transfered to pulling you forward (good for hole shot off the line ) than lifting the front. I agree with Catmando - if you like to wheelie - slack the strap and the front will bounce around like a bucking bronc = :):):) when you punch the throttle. I didn't mess with the strap for years then I asked the members on this site (about the same question) and it was some the best advice I ever had from this site. Try differnet strap lengths and it is a preference thing and will change if you do different riding.

Generally you adjust them to the conditions you are riding in. Loose strap means more track on the ground and less pressure on skis. I agree with the try it and see what you think comments. Try a couple of different positions one afternoon and see where you like it!:d:beer:
