it will make a diffrence in the mud if I were to run 9" tires all the way around? if you look at trucks all the tires are the same size so why on quads are the back wider. it should be lighter as well as the narrower tires are lighter right? just tring to take some weight of the 420 it is a litte harder to spin the tires in deep muskeg(running 26x11x12 on the bak and 26x12x8 up front.) let me know what you guys think or anyone dose this what have you found if it was better or worse or the same.

No one else has tried this? I have been running 10" Mud Lites on all four corners since '04, the 12" on the rear seemed to make the quad "wallow" thru the mud rather than cut thru. My buddy and I both bought 2004 Outlander 400's, and put the same tires on from new, 10" on the front, and 12" on the back. I changed the rears to 10" and it made a big difference in the mud. I can consistently go a lot farther than he can, sometimes 2-3 quad lengths, which also translates into me making it thru some holes when he can't. I also asked the same question as mavrick, how many 4x4 trucks have fatter tires on the rear?

If you ride muskeg, wider is definately better. Not too sure about other mud...
