Not a tough call at all. I say stay the hell out of the Middle East. They been fighting for thousands of years and will continue to do so. Let them sort out their pecking order on their own.

I agree moyie. When Bush went in he said they need to keep some kind of presence there or things will go back to the same old ways. Here we go. It looks like he was right.

Ya, but Bush also said they had WMD's so.......

I didn't agree they should have been there in the first place, but now that they've pretty much fawked it up it's not right to just pack up and go home. Not that it was all that great in the first place mind you.

I'm not totally sold on the WMD theory that they weren't there. The US gave them over a 2 year head start to hide/ bury them before they set foot on their soil. To me this is a long standing problem of the US. "We are coming in to get you....one thousand one....one thousand two....one thousand three...

I dunno. Sadam was a nut job. I don't think he'd have got rid of them if he had them. More likely to use them. Of course the CIA put him in power in the first place. The US has been sticking their nose in over there for way too long to just up and walk away now.

How has having troops in Iraq getting blowed up by IED's all those years had any effect on Iran's nuclear agenda?

Well, the converstion started about Iraq....then kinda wandered off to the Middle East....then Iran slipped in....kinda like the US using 9-11 to justify invading a country that had nothing to do with it in the first place. You know how it goes.

Just let them sort it out amongst themselves. You are not going to get religious zealots to hug and make up. Besides we have plenty of oil we would love to sell them right?

I agree 100%! There is no way any western power will ever keep them apart. They have been fighting longer than N.America has been discovered. Knee jerk reaction is to go in there and set it straight but it won't happen. Getting rid of Sadam was a mistake IMO. Crazy nut that he was, he did keep some stability in the region. As an example, Turkey occupied Greece for 400 years and in 1825 the Greeks finally managed to push them back. You would think that after 400 years you would accept your fate and join them but cultural identity is so strong that even 400 years was not enough to wipe it out.
