Now this was a close call

Most of us have to drive through access gates at some point of our driving careers.

We have had numerous incidents with gates swinging in the wind and hitting vehicles.

This guy caught a gate that was probably hidden by the tree line as he rounded the corner.

Share the following pictures as you see fit with your work groups.

Look at all four pictures to see how lucky this guy really was.

That bush guard was definately responsible for the extent of the damage. The guard forced the gate to go where it did. With no guard, the gate may have swung away from the truck leaving only a small dent and scratch. IMO

You know the driver is going to use his imagination to replay some 'worst-case-scenarios' in his mind for a long time. Things that make you go "hmmm".

Well that could've been worse, the gate was hard to see as it was pointed strait at the truck.

I nearly got skewered by a burnt dry, windfall top, it was pointing strait at my head while breaking trail with powder blowing in my face...

Simply tying some survey tape on the gate would've helped that pickup driver see it.

Looking at the second truck in the picture, it is obvious the first truck couldn't see if the gate was open from very far away...

Be careful out there.
