Stumbled across this video and thought some of you might be interested also.
When dodge put the cummins in it basically saved both their business

Almost correct. 1st Diesel in a full size Ram truck was Mitsubishi.
Cummins also was on the ropes but not that bad. They lost a couple contracts w FORD New Holland that hurt them.
Essentially Dodge Truck was approached to use the BT5.9.

They did mention mitusibishi in the video. Didnt know that the earliest diesel were cars converted to diesel, thus the stink oil burner blue smoke reptuation they have.

An interesting read is Lee Iacocca autobiography if you are interested. How he came from Ford to Chrysler and spearheaded the k-car and minivan that saved them. He was a visionary alright
