i have a 2008 800 dragon with 1000 mi on it i just returned from mcbride bc rode renshaw for 4 days my eng failed the first day there a friend had a spare sled that he lent me for 3 days i was on a hill at half throttle my eng went to a 1 cyl running i shut it off put 2 new spark plugs still on i cyl so i drove it to the cabin and drove it down to the parking lot loaded it and went to glengine in mcbride he looked at it right away and the 1 cyl had no compression at all he removed the reed valve and seen the prob scorched wall and piston my machine still has 2 yrs warranty so he told me to get it fixed at my polaris dealer glen is an excellent mech and person so i get back here and i tell my dealer that my machine only uses about a half a litre of oil for 10 gal gas and that is not enough oil even that it is cynthetic and here goes HE SAYS TO MEET THE USA EMISSION STD POLARIS CUTS BACK ON THE OIL PUMP WOW i think i am about 100 to 1 mixture and we need 50 to 1 SO GET YOUR DEALER TO OPEN THE OIL AND YOUR ENG WILL NOT HEAT up WHAT HAPPENS is your eng gets hot your wrings seize to the piston no compression and then you need the eng block pistons and head so till you get that done put some oil in your gas tank i am not a mechanic that is my 2 cents boys i am 63 g pa and will meet you boys on the hill good riding yogggibear

Hey Yoggibear, I have changed out to a Doo Doo for now. You better get that puppy back on the snow, we got to do that Marie Lake deal yet this year.
Perhaps you should get a machine to use since you have been to hell & back with that machine. Also may be put a Nitrous kit or Turbo on it since it is at the shop.:nopic::cigar:

All this talk about remapping, new flashing is crazy. These sleds shouldn't need any updates! They are new sleds. Polaris needs to invest alot more $$$$ in R&D. I thought Polaris would of learned their lesson with the 900 :nono:? I've been riding the Edge chassis since it came out and I'll continue riding it.....it may be old iron, but it gets me home.:twocents:

I'm ready to walk into the Polaris Headquarters and lay a beaten' on every retard in there. I'm not sure what is going to transpire but my salesman and the manager of the dealership are going to get an ear full. I'm sick of all the crap.....and the funny thing is that know one can tell you what the hell the problems are and how their going to fix them. Thank God its got warranty.......it's the inconvience and my buddies having to pull me home, that gets my blood boiling. I don't believe this is the first year they came out with the 800, or is it???? Fuel injection seems to be my nemesis....never had this problem with my carbed machines....this is the first time I've went with injection!!! Not impressed!!!

My dealer is Athabasca Outdoor Products.....they have treated me well in the past and hopefully this will continue (I can't see why not, it's warranty).......with that being said, Polaris had better fix the problem, it's not the dealerships responsiblity to do it themselves. At this rate there won't be any Polaris dealerships left because they will either drop Polaris all together or go broke covering the costs of their junk. I can't even imagine the crap these dealerships have to go through when the factory can't get their crap together.....and I feel bad for them...a little!!!

I thought I had made a mistake by buying the 700 when I did, but now I'm not. I wouldn't touch the 800s now until they're fixed. 700 goes okay anyway.

Mine seized up last Saturday, took a look at it at the dealer a few hours ago, both pistons scored badly, needs new but no pistons to be had as they are on backorder with no ship date available.

On a related note, slide rails also worn completely out, no warrantee for this ($1000) and they are recommending a wheel kit so it won't happen again. Always have the scratchers down on the trail and never go over 60.

Now I'm wishing I had my 900 back;):rolleyes::eek:

There is a four or six wheel kit availble to prevent the slider issue. I have heard allot of guys bought them I think the price was $140.00 BUT this is another thing that shouldnt have to be bought. As of now I am glad I dumped my Polaris with all this BS happening and the BS that should be done a quick basis I would be just Pi$$ed if it was me. This thread is a nightmare with all of the troubles everyone is having. Like I said right now I wouldnt have that brand in my yard. I honestly loved my machine dont get me wrong. Enough crap is enough already. :mad:

my dealer suggested that I buy the wheel kit ^^^^, guess I will but not happy I have to pay to fix the manufactures problem (slide rails $1000 plus $140 for wheels) plus no piston = no ride for me probably for the rest of the season

what is an old hippie to do
