i just bought a 06 rev 800 summit and it has been stripped of a few things i find necesary like a tail light and head light. my question lies with the 3 wires in the taillight conection right behind the seat. i hooked up a led strip i had lying around to the black and red wires and the strip lit up, is the white wire for brightening when you hit the brake? i guess a need to get a actual stop/tail light to make this work properly huh?, any hints or advice on what to do would be great. thanks,

just use the other wire so the led comes on when the brake is applied. otherwise i dont think leds have that capability. multifiliment. but you can order specific LED tailight setups that will work with the 3 wires

If you want a tail light and a brake light you need to have 3 wires coming from the LED strip; 1 for the tail light, one for the brake light and one for the ground.

Look around and you will find them somewhere. They need to be waterproof and are probably going to be expensive ($80-$100). I have one from Princess Auto for $80 and another one from Arctic Cat for $91 and both are waterproof and have the three wires coming out. There are small ones that are about 3" long that are reasonable.

Good luck.....

If I remember correctly, the LED lights don't always have enough resistance to keep the warning light off the guage cluster. It may require an additional resistor to keep the idiot light out.

Anybody else have anything to add about this or correct me if I am wrong?

I added the LED light in the picture. No problems with any idiot light. Maybe someone else can chime in.....

from Lordco. That is the '08 and I'm putting one on the '10 this year. Bought an Arctic Cat one but geesh there're expensive ($91 + tax).

I don't like that little rise that comes from that piece of plastic on the back of the tunnel. I prefer the snowshoes and backpack to sit flat on the tunnel. Just a thing of mine....

so this is what i ended up going with for a taillight. i got the light from princess auto and sealed it all up. it should work well. it might be a bit big/tall, but its still better than the bulky stock rack/taillight. thanks for the advice!
