I have searched, and googled, but cant find much info on this...

Is there decent sledding in the Sundre area? We will be spending Christmas in Cochrane and Sundre, and would like to take the sleds but dont know where of if to go...

I see lots of you quadding in the area so I assume there is spots to sled, but need some info please.

Thanks

I have quaded south of there lots more near Cramona. Go south on hiway 22 till you see the sign for the burnt timber gas plant and go west. You keep going till the end of the hiway and then down the gravel road, and you will see big meadows that should be good sleding. There lots of trail for sure, but i often thought those meadows would be good sleding. Might be worth a try.

I have read the the Olds Snomobile Club maintains 130km of trails, yet I cannot find a website for the club or much info other than the Sundre Chamber of Commerce site...

If you don't mind going a little north of Sundre you can head west of Caroline to the Phylis Lake turn off, turn right and go about 2k where the road turns left to the lake there's a road that goes right to a powerline right of way. I've gone for miles back there on a quad and sled, it's not groomed though but plenty of meadows to play in if you look.

Olds snowmobile club has the trails out at Bear Berry 15km west of Sundre. Good staging area and some good riding back into lost lake as long as they get snow out there. All the trails are decently marked also.

Ditto on the above. The Olds Club has a very nice stageing area straight west of Bearberry (about 2 - 3 miles). There is also a connector trail to the Caroline trails to the north of the stageing area. But snow can be scarce at times and there can be alot of the trails chewed up by quads. Hopefully if there is a decent dump of snow the area can be quite a blast for sledding.

The Olds Snowmobile club trails west of Bearberry are very good if the snow is there. The club just completed a realignment in the Yara Creek Blue Hill area and it should be a nice ride through that area.

if we get any snow seems to be the common ground. not much in the last few years. Mclean creek by Bragg Creek , just south of cochrane, may be worth a try? you could likely ride all along the trunk road, there will need to be snow or bring a saw.

may be a little early, unless we get a huge dump of snow. pray pray for snow.

I wasn't there but......This is like government workers.....everyone standing around with an opinion and nobody doing the work!

The flatlanders across the country wonder why "mountain riders" carry sooo much in their backpacks! This is a 100' tree and we had no way around it, only two choices; go home or cut it.......

The one request that the Olds Snowmobile Club would like you to do if you are using the staging area is to sign the guest book in the warm up shelter. One of the club members told me the more names in that book the better. It will help them to defend to keep the area open if push comes to shove over access to trails in the west country.
