Have been looking for a used sled, I have noticed quite a few summit 1000's for sale does anyone have any feedback from these sleds I know they are a bit on the fat side bein a few pounds heavier but anything else is the 20 ponies worth it?

Skidoo dropped the 1000 for 08, that should give you a clue.

Not sure if its just talk but i heard that ski-doo may release a late season 1000. Can't see it, but it could be good.

One guy in our group just picked up a new 1000 from last year, then spent a few bucks making it lighter and faster. I'm interested to see how it does on the hills.

Summitric, who I ride with, has a 06 1000. It's a really nice machine and handles well. It's a bit on the heavy side but has unbelievable power.
He tells me he's extremely happy with his ride.

I had a 2005 for a year. Now - I am 175lbs soaking wet, on a good day. Stock - it ate me for lunch. I spent two days with "Dare Ya". He changed the gearing, put on taller risers, we put in a can (I think it was 25 lbs there - LOL), removed the e-start and a few other tidbits. The taller risers especially made it way easier to ride, and it was the X package to start with. It was much better.

The thing has unbelievable torque - if you like going strcight up and down it is the best thing this side of a turbo Yammi. I climbed things that I had no business doing. But get it stuck and you know it is heavy. With the SDI it starts like a dream.

After realizing that I am more of a boondocker than a climber - I went with an 800 in 07. Way better sled for my type of riding> I think I will try to buy my old one back for a back-up sled. They are increadibly easier for a new rider to get around on - the torque and that 163" track really help it float.

I think you could get a great deal on one that has already been lightened up, and if you are a bigger guys they are a good sled
