hey everyone,

I currently have a TTR 230 which i got last summer but am looking to step it up to a 250 for next season. I've been told by some of the guys I ride with that the best choice would be a 250x (we ride a lot of different terrain, but mostly bush riding). Just wondering if anyone else has made the jump or what some suggestions might be even in terms of places to look for a used one?

I've found the 230 was a great first bike, but it defintely has its limitations!
Any other tips would be much appreciated!

Thanks

A CRF250X is a great bike. There are even brand new 2009 models around at dealerships if you could afford something newer at a discounted price.

I would also look at the KTM 250 XCFW, its a great bike, but sometimes not as well reviewed as the Honda as it doesn't appear to make the power the Honda does and the Honda is a Unicam design which seems to be a little easier to maintain than some of the other dual cam engines.

An 05-06 250X will run you around $3000-3500. Shop around, check out kijiji and do a search, there are lots of them on there. If you are paying more than that, the bike would have to be low hours and pretty clean. There are also the Yamaha WR250's. You already have a yammy...a quick search and I found this one...I dont know much about them though,

If your friends run those bikes be sure and have one of them tag along with you when looking, maybe they can point out something that doesn't seem right.
