was wondering if anyone has seen or made a deck out of 1-1/4" steel square tubing?Curious to how this compared to an aluminum 2" deck in strength.
For the price and the weight it is it worth it make one out of steel if it'll with stand the weight of 2 sled and plywood.

I'm running an old steel deck made from 1" square, supported in the proper places it is fine, been is service for years with no issues. Probably balances out in weight with the extra peices used for strength, maybe a bit more weight, but hey, it's more traction with nothing on the deck (at least that's what I'm telling myself..)
either way, i won't go back to a trailer if I don't have to.. but I would like a new aluminium deck..

I had a steel deck from 1 1/4" tubing it was pretty strong. It was 2'x2' centres I believe, then 1/8" plate for the outside. However do not use that big of stuff for the ramp cross pieces, mine was and the ramp was so heavy. And for the ramp, i'd consider it a bit light, I bent my ramp, granted it was ok 1 piece, the problem happened when I added an extension to make it longer.
