The Canadian Avalanche Centre is issusing a ....

SPECIAL PUBLIC AVALANCHE WARNING For the Columbia Mountains of B.C.

This includes the Caribou Mountains near Prince George down to the Southern Selkirk and Monashee Mountains near Nakusp.

THIS WARNING IS IN AFFECT FROM ....

THURSDAY March 6 to SUNDAY March 9.

At Issue is a weak layer , currently buried 20-60 cms. buried in the Snowpack !!

" This Layer has already been responsible for a number of Close Call Incidents " Says JOHN KELLY . CAC Operations Manger.

" Generally Speaking , these near-misses have SUPRISED the People Involved .

The Avalanches are running where they are NOT Expected , such as ...

Slopes that have been ridden previously or on relativly Low angle Terrain !

THE CAC WARNS ....that Managing this RISK Requires a Comprehensive Knowledge of the Snowpack.

Backcountry users who do NOT have a GOOD Familiarity with the History of the Snow in their area should exercise EXTREME CAUTION !!!

The CAC will be updating the Avalanche forecast for the Targeted Regions throughout the WARNING Period !

Please check the Bullitins at avalanche_ca for information and Advice for Your Area!

Lets all be safe this weekend guys. Current conditions dictate that we have to be extra carefull. Lets all be safe and remember those that are at home waiting for our safe return. Ride safe and have fun.:friends:

thanks for the update I'll be keeping a eye on the conditions, we're heading there next weekend.
