snow tires

whats the rule on snow tires for BC , I know u have to have the snow flake on the tires but can u run the tires that have S&M on the tires.

what about trailer tires? wonder if they need the same thing.

No idea on trailer tires but Oct 1 - Mar 31 you must have winter tires or M&S all seasons.

I find with climate change that the Oct 1 beginning date is a little early. I shoot for November 1st to change them out (appointment is November 3 this year). I know if I am in an accident, there may be questions asked but driving on the studded winters for a month with no snow takes it's toll on the studs. I am kind of a cheap bastage!

I've seen and had lots of m and s tires and they sucked on anything other than dry pavement.... Bfg rugged trail for example.... Junk tires except on dry roads, but last long

Oct 1 is the fact that the rubber compound in Summer/All Season don't operate well below 7C. It easily gets below that in October, even Sept at night. Don't think those signs are meant for those running studs, as that would probably be a minority.

I run the Nokian Rotiiva, which are the All Weather tires, on my truck. Run them year round and they have the little Mountain/Snowflake on them. They have been excellent in the snow, and have 60% life left on the wear indicators with about 50k of year round driving on them.
