Had the smart valves screw up on my 14.

Tried swapping the vented one from the rear of the tank to the front of the tank because the front one was closing off and starving the sled for fuel. That didnt work. The vented one also closed off and starved the sled for fuel. Pulled it apart again and just gutted the front smartvalve so it could not close off anymore and give full fuel no matter what the other 2 at the rear of the tank did. Worked like a charm and got to ride the rest of the day in the renshaw in 4 ft of fresh powder. But what a pain in the ass.

What is the purpose of the smartvalves exactly? Seems like just something else that could go wrong and could be alot simpler to avoid issues on the trail.

started with the pump whineing and sounded like it was starving, tested with another known good pump and it whined as well. then moved to smart valves and you could see the front one was collapsed and as we were changing them you would watch it slowly release.

Some have had issues with the front unit collapsing. Most have rectified this by swapping the smart valves as mentioned. Others have managed to secure updated smart valve springs from their dealers. I have been meaning to do the swap myself as I ran into this situation with low fuel trying to do a long uphill pull....that sucked.

When you say smart valves? Would the power valves be the same thing that you are referring to, I have had issues as well and just wanted to make sure?

Smart valves are in the gas tank. One up front and two in back with the Proclimb/Procross sleds. Two in back are vented so they don't collapse. One up front has too short of a line after the valve and it can suck a vacuum collapsing the valve. Moving a vented one from back to the front and vice versa has helped the situation.

seems pretty good. we were in about 4ft of fresh powder last weekend and i am happy with the 162 track and great power. i put powder pro skis on it right away as i heard the stock skis werent very good. i dont really care for the small seat tho. I am a taller guy. Gonna ride it a few more times and see if it ssomething i just need to get used to or have to swap out with a 2013 seat.

Overall......I just came off a polaris pro and this is my first Cat.....If it werent for the smart valve issue, and if i dont have any more problems.....I think I will like it. Just need to give it a bit more time to get used to. The power is something that I really like. It does pull harder than the pro did for sure.
