SLP MTX Weights

Just wondering if anyone who is running the SLP MTX weights would care to share if the recommended SLP configuration of 3gr in the base hole and 1gr in the tip is working ok.

Riding area is Vale/ Mcbride- 6500'

I believe that's to much weight.
Get the blue/pink primary and black/purple secondary springs and add 1gram in the toe. With the stock helix.

Forgot to mention that I am running the SLP pipe and can for which the weight combo above comes from the SLP chart.

VM- is your set up posted using the pipe and can?

Also the mtx68 weights are 64.5 grams without adding any rivets

So I finally got out today to do some low elevation testing(2000')
2.8 hours on sled now.

I started out with the SLP recommendation of the 71grMTX with 2gr inner and 2gr outer. Pulled to 8600rpm.
Then I installed a 3gr rivet in the outer hole and left the 2gr in the inner hole. It dropped the rpm to 8550 but still over reving.
I am going to try 3 and 3 next, but have a feeling I might be having to go and buy a 72 or 73gr MTX's.

I can not believe how much weight this motor and pipe combo can pull. I am pulling 75.5gr total weight and still need more. Sled feels very rippy.

That a lot of weight. Hope your having fun. Sounds like some more tweaking on the clutches is needed.

Might have to look at gearing for the 2000' riding. I am hoping to 68gr MTX's and the 3gr inner and 1gr outer for a total of 71.6 work for mcbride this week when we get there Friday

The one thing I don't like about those SLP weights is the rivets. I have a set of rooster weights and they come with little bolts and washers to adjust the weights.

Just an update to my last weekend with Low elevation testing (2000'). Running the 71gr base weight with 3 and 3 in the holes. Still over reving, but it is getting better- down to 8450-8500 now. Sled noticeably pulls harder now that I am getting closer to the recommended rpm from SLP (8300-8400).
My next move is going to try the 74gr base weight with 2 and 2 in the holes.

On another note- I have been running without the SLP Resistor down low and in Ethanol mode. Twice this weekend I hit DET on WOT runs across the lake. Looks like I am going to need to figure out how to get the resistor to work properly in lower elevations.

Out of curiosity did you put the mtx weights on a scale? Before adding any rivets?

I finally have my low elevation set up dialed in for 2000' and here is what I am at.

SLP Green/Pink Primary Spring(160-340)
SLPMTX Weights- 74gr. Base weight with 3gr. rivits in both inner and outer holes. Total combined weight is 79.5gr.

With this set up I am now hitting a solid 8300-8350 rpm and no more over revving

Keep in mind that slp mtx weights require 4 gr heavier than the equivalent polaris 10 series. (10-64gr=68gr mtx weights).

In the notes on slp website.




I run 69.5gr daltons in my sled at 2200 with no pipe but high compression head.

I also prefer the black/pink (120/340) primary spring for lower&smoother engagement over both the stock and blue/pink spring.
