I see most of the decks that everyone talks about are aluminium decks. why did you choose the deck you bought? and would any body change back to steel? i would like to hear all the pros and cons about both decks.

Mostly the weight issue. If a steel deck could be fabricated just as light then I am sure it would be cheeper. Plus the look of an aluminum deck, but if a steel deck was powder coated I am sure there would never be corrosion concerns.

When considering the payload of most modern trucks, especially Dodge 3/4 ton's you need every spare pound you can get. (if you want to be legal)

I was looking at the toyup decks. They have a life time structural warranty, and a nine foot deck is a little over 400 lbs. but I do like the decks hat the sides push in. Does anyone have any experience with the toyup decks?

the weight has been the main factor for most people, with the weight of the deck, sleds, gear, fuel etc,you usually want the lightest deck possible which is aluminim. i would never have a deck with not being able to slide the sides in or out, unless your truck is only used for sleds.

Would like to know the true weight difference. When I bough my aluminum tandem tub there was only 28 pounds difference to steel.

I have a steel deck with sides that don't slide, takes 4 guys to lift it out of the box. my bud's 8'x8' aluminum deck can be removed by 2 guys. his has no slides either, one with retractable sides may be a bit heavier but still gonna be a lot lighter than steel. the only disadvantage I could see with aluminum is that it will be more susceptible to cracking from vibration. aluminum doesn't like flex.

Well it is like having a yammi in the mountains and getting stuck and having to lift it all day, then you jump on a skidoo and is like half the weight, now you don't mind getting stuck all day. If you get stuck at all...............Just saying..............
