Simmons seem to be the choice for most people, however (and don't flame me for this - its just my opinion) I hve never really liked them. In powder they seem to be comparable to the SLP's, but they are a different animal on the hardpack. I have ridden them on several different sleds and never really liked how they track. For the price, I feel that the SLP Powder Pro's are a better value, but the SLP's are touchy on the trail as well. Sly Dogs or MODS would be good choices as well.

Last year I ran a new set of Pilot 6.9's on my mod and they seem to perform as well as the Simmons in powder (similar keel designs) but seem to track better on the trail as the outside runner digs in more and allows the suspension to act a little more. With the Simmons, being that they are such a flat ski, they wanted to try and stay flat on the hardpack, almost working against the natural action of the suspension (causing the sled to roll to the outside). The Pilots did not seem to have the same tendency to do this and let the sled carve more. Just my opinion.

P.S. Simmons require a special runner that only they make. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of $60-70. You'll need two for each ski. SLP's skis are cheaper and the runners are dirt cheap compared to Simmons. If anyone has some info on on where they can be had cheaper please post it

I've heard the simmons aren't the grarest when it comes to side hilling and i've heard powder hounds are a really good ski...my favorite is the slp powder pro's they handle great and float like a flying carpet across the clouds

I have a set of simmons and a set of powderhounds,To make a long story short,The simmons skis are on my wifes sled.If your concerned mostly about sidehilling powderhounds are a better choice in my opinion,I like them better all around.

I run modified SLP's......but every sled and rider is different, so your gonna have to go thru the painful experience of trial and ERROR

I really like my simmions but they do give me a work out on hardpack. Never tried the sly dogs though. This is a good post, my bro wants different ski's for his M7. What do a set of sly dogs go for?
