Interesting. I wonder if Doo figured out how to make a crank last longer?:smiliestirthepot::d

Watch the MSRP jump a ton from this new engine...

After riding a 600 E-Tec I'm sold. (provided I have the moola to buy a new sled)

This 800 would be AMAZING on a mountain sled. I'm glad they came out with it. It's like a super light weight 4-stroke engine. Starts amazing, runs amazing, and the power is great (on the 600 anyways). Not to mention wicked mileage and very little oil consumption.

Good on BRP. If the system works well it'll be a hit for sure.

As far as I'm concerned it's pretty exciting news! I'm definitely gonna be thinking hard about upgrading this spring. I have however heard that the price tag for the Summit could be staggering!

I read 156 hp, 5 more than the 800 power tek and they claim 200 miles to a tank of fuel, 450km to a tank of oil.

I'm still drooling. Never been a big fan of the look of XP's, but I know they work well.

This will probably be my next sled used in a few years. Just dreaming of a solid idle, smooth linear torque, and exceptional throttle response. It's just so refined the e-tec technology.

finally a guy could turbo an xp and have a smooth running reliable machine! I know of a turboed 08 xp and bud says it is an insane machine with a turbo, but it doesn't run the most consistent. I may consider one of the sleds in the future...... just goes to show never say never. lol

my source tells me that the pre-order is only availble in the Renegade with the Summit to follow not long after.

Evan3000, i've heard these are a real pain in the azz to turbo with all the sensors built in monitoring everything but i'm sure it's doable with enough cash.

can't wait i may have to upgrade as well.

The late release 800 e-tec MXZ X e-start price is $14699 + frieght and PDI
the 2010 800R carb MXZ X e-start MSRP was $13299.
With that a 2011 Summit X 163 e-tec pull start should be around $15249 + freight and PDI.
And I don't think lightly modding these engines is an option so I don't think the Turbo thing will be a go.

In my head
It's great technology and I am excited to see Doo working with this type of injection. My excitement comes temperes though as alot of real world testing on the 600 E-Tec never came close to the fuel mileage and oil consumption numbers Doo printed. It was better, but not "stellar" like Doo touted. Time will tell. Maybe they got the 800 setup even better than the 600. Looking forward to first few ride reports.

I heard a rumour there may be a challenger to the E-Tech showing up in the near future......;)

I also heard that they are around 156hp and once you are done running 80 litres of fuel it will retard engine 4 deg and run 159hp after. That is what dealer today said.

right on, it might be time to get a new sleigh. even if there a little more money you will save on fuel and oil in the long run.

Just got the BRP newsletter in the email. looks sweet!

"The day many of you have been anticipating is here: we are launching the next engine with our revolutionary E-TEC technology, the Rotax E-TEC 800R.

It has all the same benefits you’ve come to expect from the E-TEC direct injection system – awesome fuel and oil economy, super smooth idle and light throttle pull – yet with extra strength! For full details on this new engine, go to the Ski-Doo engine technology web site."

"OWN IT!
We’re releasing a limited build of 2010 MX Z X-package sleds with the new E-TEC 800R to dealers. You could be one of the first to own and ride this powerful new engine! See your Ski-Doo dealer to get all details.

TRY IT!
We are also launching a demo tour of these sleds today so you can experience this awesome new motor first hand. Here’s the schedule of stops.

TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT!
Once you’ve tried the new E-TEC 800R engine on the demo tour, at your dealer or because you bought one of the limited builds, share your experience with other snowmobilers by submitting a Real Rider Review, a new feature on ski-doo.com."

This was all in the email!

Mod sledders may be a little disappointed with this in a way? Has anyone modded a 600 E-Tec successfully? Either way awesome technology here and a benchmark to follow.

True, people wanting to ride a doo mod sled won't be excited about this motor but 90% or more of snowmobilers will be. Besides the 800R has never been the greatest motor to mod. How many people do you know of that are happy with a BB 800. Some maybe, yes, but most aren't. I think most people who are talking about being able to mod/turbo these things wouldn't actually do it if it was possible, they just want to see a new breed of sled to rival a yamaha or cat turbo.... Same with everyone who says they will be dissapointed if doo doesn't realease a factory turbo 1200. How many people would actually step up and buy a $22000 sled with no warranty. I doubt many, they jsut want to read about them and hope to see one in action one day. I find people will commit to buying almost anything as long as they can't actually do it.

I for one am excited for this release. They may be expensive but hey so are diamonds and gold. haha, And they keep us riding 2 strokes.
GO DOO!
