I have a 45'x40'x16' high shop. I have 12 boxes wired in that are spaced relatively even across the ceiling area (3 banks of 4 lights). I just have 100 watt flourescents in right now and definitely need more light.

How do I figure out how much light I need? Would 12 - 4' 2 bulb T5 fixtures work? Would it be too much? Or would I want 12 - 4 bulb fixtures?

Any idea where the cheapest place to buy something like this would be?

There are some led lighting fixtures out now that are amazing. The tire shop here is putting some in the new shop. They are about 8"x36". I'm sure a person can google em. He got them in sask I think.

The 2 lamp fixtures would be ok for your application but i would go with the 4 lamp to get more light. the downside is that a 4 lamp T5 is around 180-200 bucks were as a 2 lamp would be around the 80 dollar mark. the cheapest place to get this material would be from an electrical wholesaler like gescan, wesco, westburne, or eecol electric.
