I have a 2010 m8. I just noticed that my secondary has made contact with my diamond drive. The circular marks were not there two weeks ago. Nothing has changed other than snow conditions. It has 1300 miles on it and this is the first time it's ever made contact. There has never been any spacers behind my secondary clutch.

I added the thin spacer today because my belt pulled some cords on the panel side of the belt. I'm hoping this fixes both problems.

Wow this is something I may have to look for, have you heard of this happening often? Did you ask the dealer about it to see if they have heard of this before?

The spacers are for belt alignment so you may have cured both problems. What I did was machined off 0.020 or 0.030 from the clutch for a bit of a buffer and have not had a problem since.

I read a forum on Snowest where guys are cutting the backs of the secondary as well and shimming the engine with small washers to make it go in towards the mag side. I think it is for the higher hp sleds but I am leaving good alone as I dont have any issues since i got mine aligned and geared down. Before that was done I went through quite a few belts. I have not had my secondary touch my diamond drive, is it possible that it is a bit loose and moving just enough with flexing? A shim will definately help but check the alignment as you could possibly make it a bit worse, or better thats the fun in clutching you just never know sometimes!
