I was able to try my sled for the first time in deep pow and the mountains and have come up with a problem. I am 5'6" and the 8" riser is too tall and I already bent my straight handlebars on my 2015 Summit SP 154 and I am having issues with steering or lack there of.

I am thinking about going down to a 4" riser and some bmx style bars like pro tapers.

What are everyone's thoughts?

most guys that i know end up going to a 3-5" riser and CFR bars seem to be one of the better options out there, i my self at 5'10" run fasst flexx bars with a 4" riser, bars are not cheap but definitaly help in the rough stuff. Wont let me post a picture but if you want a look shoot me a pm with your number and i can send you a picture or two.

Thanks,

Riding 2 days with these bars and they gotta go, it's just a matter of which ones. I have a buddy with a 2013 freeride that I am going to go have a look at, also one with a 2015 rmk that I am going to measure out

Are the sp bars that weak?
I'm 6' 225ish. Just wondering if I should swap them out now while new, can exchange my adjustable riser for the bigger bar size,

They are definitely a bit weaker with them being 7/8 instead of the 1 1/8 that the X bars are. Replced 3 sets on my friends 13 SP but they changed the design on them now. Just a matter of time before those SP ones bend.

3" chuck CRF risers and boondockers 2.0 bars will leave you at a 5" total height. 3" shorter then you're current set up

My new riser is 4", and currently the stock bars are about 2" too tall when I stand.

The stock bars are horrible weak, I bent my left side up, and right side down trying to get unstuck. A buddy I rode with on Friday bent his '16 SP right hand side almost all the way down when he came to and abrupt stop lol. The good thing was we were able to bend it back up to within 1" of new, didn't want to go any farther and crack it or break it off, was able to finish the days riding and even the next day.

Xm bars are know for weakness, you wont have any issues with CRF bars. Your riser on other hand I've never had any luck with RSI, they always folded on the steering post no matter how much you tightened them, my old rev I ended up tacking them to the post.

I edited my original post they are CRF 4" risers.

The height now is perfect and the bars feel really good when standing now, I just need new grips because of the extra .75 on either end and how I placed my heaters. One question though, what is everyone doing with the ground wire that is attached to the middle of the factory bars?

I drilled a hole in my bars p, the bolt is a self tapper. I run 5" CFR knuckle risers and the boondocker bars on my 16 xm with the riser inline with the post. Wish I did this too my 13 back in the day, so comfortable

Thanks for the honest info guys. Looks like some boondocker 2.0 bars coming up. Exchange my riser and I'm set.
Don't need to be messing around trying to fix bars 12hrs from home

Did the same thing, what did everyone do with the cork like material under the heater elements on the stock bars? Transfer it or no?

Yup, take your time and transfer the cork/heater as a unit, heat gun works nice just don't heat up too much, I also heated up my bars first and that seemed to help to release the glue.
