Lets all keeps safe out the, never in my life have I seen all of this snow coming down like this. Stay off all of the big hills and be sure to check conditions. Other than that incredible boondocking weekend, thanks to all for coming out.

We were in Hope by Golden on Saturday and it was the same story. None of the new snow wants to stick! Be careful!

most look like pretty low angle aspects, slabs looked like they did not have much momentum and all new snow.

steeper aspects are really going to be nasty, it's the deeper weak layers that are the big concern.

I agree with him.

The stuff pictured isn't that big, but still a very valid concern. Just shows how easily it's sliding and what might happen. Chances are anybody stuck in that stuff would be on the surface. Snowmobile included, however I'd be sticking far away from the slopes.

I saw the start of the slide cycle in Fernie that Johny T is talking about. We seen two slides that were reported and had minor incidents with riders near the notch. On top of that in the rolling hills I was seeing big cracks shooting 10-30 feet in front of my sled while sidehilling safe, low angle slopes. Snow pit showed the weak bonded layer of fresh on top, and the persistent layer down below separating two dense, well formed slabs above and below.

We were out three weeks ago in Gorman and saw the frost with which this snow is letting go on. We were boarding on the soft frost covered layer of fresh and causing some sluffing during hard turns and jump landings. Towards the end of the day when it started setting up and getting heavy we headed out in fear of letting something bigger go. Natural stuff was starting to slab at that point. Now that there is more snow on this weak layer it's letting go.

Play safe people! After another unfortunate death in the Sicamous area, we can't take the blow of more mishap.

You can still ride, just stay out of avy run-outs (trail and otherwise) and stay off the hills. This year started off decent and will end ugly with all the persistent layers we have going on in the snowpack.
