rev 162 3inch

i was planning on doing a 162 on a rev then i thought if im going that big i may as well do a 3 inch if its possible. do they make a drop and roll kit like they do when you do a 3 inch track on a xp.

Use 8 tooth drivers for 3" and you don't need a drop and roll. Diameter is slightly less than 2.54 pitch driver so you will be geared a bit lower for the longer 162" track, works great. Some shops won't agree as there are way less parts sales to you. Most in our group took this route and sleds work great, out climb the new stock XP's. Not sure why a person would put a 3" on an XP that has a 2.84 pitch. Is all that cost worth a pitch change of .16?????

Actually 8 tooth drivers are 1/2" larger than 9 tooth 2.52 pitch drivers, i doubt you would be able to get a 3" in without a D&R, it's tight with running 7 tooth 3 pitch drivers (1/2 smaller than 9 tooth 2.52's) and 2.5" lug...

Also dropping driver sizes you are losing attack angle i think it's 6 degrees with the driver size drop. if you drop and roll you are gaining a whole bunch. Not to mention clearing snow out of your tunnel with such tight clearances you will be losing a ton of power... I did a specialty drop on mine, you can find pics in the general performance page under summer XRS build. 3" is pretty massive... with a 2.5 and scratchers down i get barley any snow on the sliders and in the skid, 3" you better be ready to change sliders every season or maybe even twice a season... the 2.5 has more than enough traction for a rev, you will need to gear down too much and lose speed to run the 3" anyways....

Do the D&R, run 8 tooth 3 pitch Avid drivers and go with the 2.5 challenger X, you won't be disappointed.... Best gearing for this combo is 19 - 45, throw a DJ clutch kit in there for good measure

OK my bad, that is what I ment. Use 8 tooth driver for 3" pitch not 3" lugs. The only DOO that can take 3" lugs without a drop and roll is the 1000RT chassis. I don't think a stock 800 doo has the grunt for 3" lugs on a 162" track even if you gear it down. A 2.5 incher is lots.

Just installed 2.5 Xtreme on my 04 with 7 tooth drivers. At Revy after christmas, totally diferent sled when it come to climbing hooked up great. On long pulls was losing rpm but have not geared down yet as I was told this increase top end by 15%. On the trail better traction then stocker but recomend running scrathers all the time, I use cable style so don't have worry about reverse. Told with 3" paddles not enough clearance in tunnel can creat too much wind resistence and power lose without D&R.

I have run the 162 3" with DJ clutch kit, 7 th Avid drivers and 19/45 gearing.
it is a tractor in the trees but a 2010 X with a 2.5 takes the deep climbs fairly consistantly. the 10 carrys about 8 to 10 MPH more track speed, he is running 21/49 gears.
