I've seen a mechanic change an E-Module without pulling the motor. He unbolted the motor and ran a strap over the steering post and lifted the engine on the y-pipe. This gives you enough clearance to change the module. He didn't seem to be having any problems but im sure he's done it before.

how do you remove the rivets behind there

They should mostly be hemlock rivets. If you hit them with a hammer and punch they come apart. Any conventional rivets would have to be hit with an air hammer.

Like I said the guy that was doing it has obviously done this numerous times before and is set up for it. It may be that you're further ahead to pull the motor and give yourself the room to work. As far as pulling the motor I don't believe there is anything that's terribly challenging but it is time consuming because of how tight things are in there.
