this should be in the polaris thread but they are ryde fx shocks so this may apply for all brands.

does the rear shock on a skid have any kind of spring in the shock? i replaced my ryde fx shocks in my rmk and if i push the walker evans i replaced them with against the wall and let it go it pushes the rod back out where my ryde fx stays where its at.

my thought is that the torsion spring will make the rod go back out....but why would dragons have a rear shock with an internal spring and the torsion spring? its way stiffer and the rear of my sled sits up higher but i dont know the ryde fx seems like its not blown, its still very hard to compress pushing it against the wall......you would think that if it was blown it would compress super easy

Most likely the ryde fx shocks is an oil damper where it just controls the rate of return of the torsion springs. The walker shock is a gas and oil charged unit so it has the pressure to return itself when collapsed. Their are no internal springs in either of these shocks.

k that what the answer i was looking for thanks, and your right the ryde fx is a basic oil and the walker is gas. i was wondering why the walker was springing back i knew there couldnt be a coil in it but i thought there could be a slim chance it was built like a mountain bike with oil and and a internal coil spring in the fork.

The RydeFX is a Gas Cell: Eliminates foaming of the oil, providing consistent performance throughout the life of the shock" so now outward pressure.
