I think we should be at this in full force. Let's find out as much as we can about the agenda and be prepared to ask the tough questions and challenge the info that we know to be questionable. At the very least we can occupy a bunch of seats that would otherwise be occupied by enviro sheep. ...I've booked my seat.
[h=1]RDRWA Fall Forum -Rally for the River[/h]
Body:
Rally for the River
September 8th, 2017
Join the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance and Alberta Ecotrust at the "Rally for the River" on September 8th as we seek breakthroughs on water challenges.
The 2017 Fall Forum will launch a new strategic approach for watershed management in the Red Deer River watershed. The day will feature presentations about the big picture of watershed management, and activities to involve the community in charting a course forward.
What’s the situation?
A recent report by the World Wildlife Foundation (2017) ranked threats to the Red Deer River watershed as very high, identifying issues ranging from pollution, to habitat fragmentation, to the overuse of water. We know that watershed health varies across each of the basin’s 15 sub-watersheds, and that we face a growing number of challenges due to land-use change, lack of water literacy, climate change, and cumulative effects (RDRWA, 2016).
There are no quick fixes to these complex challenges, so we must focus our efforts on areas most likely to make a positive difference. The Rally for the River brings people together to explore the urgency of the difficult issues we face and kickstart action.
What will we do?
Expert presentations. Thought-provoking activities. Delicious Food.
Come to learn about the story of the Red Deer River watershed, and stay to help us launch a new course forward, guided by six "Action Pathways". These pathways build off of past work led by the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance and Alberta Ecotrust through the Project Blue Thumb innovation lab.
More details about the day will be announced in the coming weeks.
Please join us for this exciting and informative day!
Please RSVP by August 30th. Register HERE
