does anyone here know if race fuel "goes bad" ??? i had a bit of an "issue" with my apex last season around feb, and as a result didnt end up getting the chance to go out again sledding for the rest of the year, so the 45 gallon drum of sunoco supreme (which is the equivalent of a fuel between C12 and C16) just kinda sat in the shop......does it go bad, or anything like that, if so is there an additive to hype it up again......

as long as it was in the drum its probly good for about 4 months. and someone might want to clarify this but im pretty sure you could still use it but add some fresh stuff in because it has probly lost some of its octane value

i run a 40% race fuel, 60% 94 octane premium, for 15 lbs of boost, im thinking it should be ALRIGHT still....and yeah it was still in the barrel.

How full was the drum and how well was it sealed. The problem with fuel sitting is it will vaporize off the light ends if it wasn't sealed well. If it was full and sealed, or partially empty and the bungs were tight, it will be fine. If it wasn't, you might want to sell it to someone who mixes for non turbo apps and buy a new one.

sob didnt even think of that...... the barrel itself is sealed, but theres a 2 inch plug you know to get the fuel out....and i had a hand pump threaded into the opening...........so yeah, was about 3/4 full

I talked to a rep from VP a couple of days ago and asked that question, he says that as long as the drum is kept sealed it should keep for 2-3 years. He says where fuels go bad is in plastic containers or if vents are left open. The lighter components in the fuel will evaporate quickly.

As stated before, make sure it is sealed "tight" because they will vent and suck in air if not.

The fuel if opened will definately loose it's juice. It is also a good idea to keep it in a cool dry place all the time and don't premix until you are ready to use. Lessons learned the hard way.
