The wet clutch and drum are toast in 2006 king quad and there is a fine silver colour in the oil. It is more then likely that it is from the drum/wet clutch. The question is do I need to split the case to get to the oil sump pump filter. Or do I not need to change it. I clean out the engine the best that I could by, spraying brake clean in where I could and put the quad on a good tilt to let what ever there was in it to drain out. Thanks again for the help.

the silvery metallic's could be ur clutch shoe assembly, if its worn down past the shoes, its all metal on metal there after. The metallics are probly off the drum and shoe assembly.

The oil pump can be accessed by removing the left side recoil then generator cover. Ur pump will be hooked up to a small chain thats ran off the crank by a gear set, that gear set is hooked up by chainto pump gear. Oil pump is behind this gear, and is bolted with #1 philips head fasteners.(If u are too pull off this left cover, watch for shims that may fall, it mite feeel tough to get off but thats just the magnetism of the stator and generator.

I'd probly waste 3 cans of brake clean to rinse it out.

Cheap insurance for this problem, is to stick a good magnet to the side of your oil filter, you can get a really good rare earth magnet from an old computor hard drive, also buy a good magnetic oil drain plug like they use in auto trannies. Your wet clutch is a consumabble part and it is always wearing so I say every little bit of extra help that makes my engine last longer!! Of course this won't help with aluminum
