Question for Kingquad 750 owners...

So I couldn't help but notice at the motorcycle show how unprotected and exposed the rad is on these quads, and since I'm cosidering picking one up a question came to mind. How long will this rad last without getting impaled by a random, joust-like tree branch? I own a kodiak 400 so it's not that I'm new to the whole liquid cooled game, it's just the fact that between the grizz 700 and the kingquad theres a big difference in rad protection.

If any owners would care to lend input into this issue it would obviously be much appreciated.

Never had a problem with mine, and I've been in some nasty stuff. Only thing with the KQ, is if you are running a steel winch cable and it gets a loop on the spool, then it can hook the bottom mount on the rad and bust it. Synthetic line is the way to go. Lot of info on the KQ at nyroc.com too.

It makes sense. If the general word is that its a non-issue I'll believe it. There's always the bad luck factor in any sort of aggressive riding but thats part of the game. I just had to ask because being so used to yamaha products it stood out to me that there wasn't any shrouding around it at all.

ps. I did check the website. black brush no eps. I like it! (The non-eps have lower handlebars right?)

Well thats good news. Eps versions have such an awkward riding position I find.

We bought a 450 King Quad in 2007, no issue with Rad but would recommend an after market front bumper as my boys have broke both headlight mounts (ran into trees!), no protection in the corners. I bought a new 750 Kind Quad with PS, I am liking it very much, I have very quickly gotten used to the handlebar height and don't have any concerns about it.

Most definetely put a bumper on it, Kimpex bumper is good enough.

I've yet to have an issue with my 08 KQ 750 but cleaning the rad out after playing in the mud can be a bit of a pain. I'm looking at building a rad gaurd out of screen door material to keep the mud packing in to a minimum. That or maybe trying some pantyhose material across it?

You might want to reconsider the colour choice. I had the brushed black on my king, it only had 100 km on it and it was all peeling off. I took it to the dealer and got it replaced with a diff colour under warranty. They have replaced the plastic on many of these.

I got two king quads and hit the bad luck with the rad i rode it for almost two years then the day i put the kimpex bumper on i took a tree through the headlight and the rad. Replaced it and havnt had any problems since with either machine.

get some 10mm plastic grid chicken fence ...double it up so it's staggered........ it won't keep it clean but it will let the air through and stop the packing issue..... worked for me ...... but then again I went back to honda because I was sick of replacing belts and clutches.

i back in to a stick and it broke my fan but surprisingly didnt break the rad, i did make a guard out of some old crazy carpets , but it was more for stopping the mud from clogging the rad
