I was hoping on going to the DC-3 plane crash site later this summer.
My question is that I was hoping on taking a couple of less experienced riders along. My sister who has rode around the farm plenty just got a quad, but does not have much experience, im not worried about her quad but just how big the climbs are and how technical the trail is. I dont want to have her scared and want to head back half way there.

Does anyone know the trail enough to let me know if this would be a good or bad idea??

Thanks

Yes the trail is quite simple. There really isn't a bunch of big climbs or technical sections. The CNP club takes very good care of their trails and it makes for a great trail system. It's a good family friendly ride. You shouldn't have any problems with less experienced riders coming with you.

been there 2 times with a razor only one small hill with some rocks but the climb to the crash is worth it when you come down take the trail to the left through the trees that is a nice ride you go over little burms and there is some mud holes

ya the hairier stuff is on the north side mainly... but 80% is ok for supervised beginners with some hrs under there belt... we had some riders along with us that had not much experience at all but have been out on the quads for a few rides... as long as everyone watches over them a bit even some hairier hills are ok... now if the brain says NO, then the hands and feet will follow, lol and you will be too scarred.. its mostly overcoming the fear, if your feared easeally.

Did this trail last year, very easy. There are a few speed bumps, but should be no problem. Excellent trail. Also not a long ride in, I think it was about an hour.

Agree with all . We went up on a week day and had the trail to ourselves.
The berms are fun. The only people we saw on the trail, was a group of ladies
picking berries about halfway up! One moderately steep section with some loose rocks, nothing
to fret for newbies. Rubirose is right, it took approx. an hour from York Creek
Staging area. Trails are well marked. We took the #46 trail marker, which was right at the yellow bridge over York Creek. Trail markers # 45, 44, and 43 , i believe would get you to the crash basin as well. The scenery is spectacular !
I can confirm the trail is well maintained, as stated, and anyone with some
level of experience , would enjoy it.

random camping is awsome ... MAcgilvery and Atlas give you lots of room... tons... Macgivery is larger thou.. probably twice, i would say... these are the two main places to camp on the north side.. if you go to the plane crash from the north side, you have to cross the highway and drive a bit in the ditch to get to the trails...

i personally think that the rides on the north side have much nicer secenry and are a little more challeging..

hey dean great video. whats the camping like?

There is no camping at york staging area( plane crash trail). But we did not know this last year but we managed to get out truck and trailer off the road to the right just before the bridge over York creek.( This was past the staging area) Not knowing where you are going with a rig is not really recommended. Anyway we stayed there a couple of night. All to ourselves.

jay007 i live in the crowsnest pass, I would be more than happy to take you guys up there if you would like. Depending on the days you plan on coming and if my quad is fixed by then. But like everyone else said the trail up there is not bad at all, they did a bunch of trail maintence on it a couple years ago and made it alot better.

if you camp at macgilvery or atlas, which i think is the best anyways, you have to cross the highway to get to the plane crash trail.. kinda not legal but many do it anyways... you have to drive thru the ditch for a short time to get to it..

Thank you papajake - we had a great time in the area. Among the vehicles up there were 3 dirt bikes, a RZR, some quads, a Jeep Sahara and an ancient Toyota Diesel Land Cruiser. :)
