Mclennan rcmp are investigating a serious quad accident that killed a girouxville man saturday...
Police were called to a ditch in the girouxville area, where it appears the man operating the quad had rolled. He was not wearing a helmet.
The man, whose name was not released, sustained fatal injuries. Alcohol was believed to be a factor. Girouxville is about 450km northwest of edmonton.

This was an excert from the edmonton sun today

so sad, and a terrible, probably preventable tragedy. Heartfelt sympathy to family and friends.........r.i.p.:(

Good luck on that. Last time I checked this is a free country. Going to take away vehicles from people caught not wearing seat belts too?

I dont wear a helmet quading and that is my choice, I think we are overlooking one major part of the story. Alchohol was beleived to be a factor. How many of you guys that wear a helmet drink and quad. Wearing no helmet affects me and my imediate family, someone drinking and riding (helmet or not) affects us all. RIP and condolences to the family.

my condolences to his family and loved ones.......RIP

i do wonder if there will ever be a thread like this where we can look past mistakes made avoid the controversy and just see it as the loss and tragedy it is......there are other threads on here not about someones passing that you can voice your opinions on these topics

i hope that should i pass in a questionable manner that the story doesn't make it here so i don't become another person for everyone to point fingers at and make judgments on

Why is it that every time there is a fatality everone automatically makes the jump, if he/she had worn a helmet they would be alive. There are many ways to die other than a head injury. My family and myself ware helmets because it is safer to where them than not but I am sure that if I roll a 800 lbs quad on my chest chances are good I might not make it out of that situation alive. With or with out a helmet.

protect your noodle !, this is sad news rip, anything i get on a put a skid lid on! its a must
case in point i was skiddoing on pigeon lake this past winter doing 120 and hit a skating rink berm ,put a huge dent in my helmet and not in my head
the moto cross helmet front cover thing stopped my teeth from getting knocked out when my head hit the handle bars
spend the 200 bucks for a good noodle protector!!!!

It's a awful tragedy but come on people wear helmets not only do you protect yourself, but the rest of us. Whenever we push for more freedom on our quads we are usually denied and it's because of bow dangerous ATV's are. Wear a helmet and don't be a statistic
