Hey folks - not an avid quadder but I do ride from time to time. There is nothing in the classifieds (and hasn't been in quite some time), which is why I'm posting here. The WTB section looks a little vacant as well.... :)

Looking for a project quad - cheap and non-running is the criteria, basically looking for a roller chassis or a poor running quad with a decent frame and body. With or without motor doesn't matter, but need to have the running gear (wheels, axles, etc). Two wheel drive I think would be best, but I would entertain a 4x4 also. I have a couple spare 670 motors that are just sitting around the garage, I'm thinking one of them would like a home in a quad frame. :D

Thanks in advance.

It's going to be a lot of work making a 670 work in a Polaris 4x4 chassis. A guy from Rimbey put a 583 in a Scrambler chassis, but had to build a pipe and remove the front driveshaft and such for clearance. It took quite a bit to build, but the thing is nuts, it wants to keep falling over backwards. A built up 670 would be nasty.

I have a streetbike motor in my "dirt bike".....I'm not afraid of work. :D If necessary I will just build a new engine cradle to fit the motor. I'll probably gut the 4 wheel drive and just run it 2 wheel, like Rimbey dude. Already figured I would have to extend the rear swingarm to keep the front end down. Pipe would just be a stock pipe into stinger and routed straight back (as best as possible).

Not to try and change your mind but have you considered dropping that motor into a Honda Odyssey. Lots of them out there for cheap and I think it would a lot easier to do.

Edmonton Area ATVs, quads, snowmobiles for sale - Free Edmonton Area Classifieds at Kijiji

My brother dropped a sled engine in an odyssey once...pretty snorty. I don't think Modman is looking for "Easy" more than he is going for unique. I think a quad with a 670 would be Rich... take lots of pic's.

LOL - no worries man, odyssey would be cool but I'd rather have a quad, little more options for bombing in the back woods with the quad and Odyssey doesn't have as much clearance either. Also, I don't like the seat positioning on the Odyssey unless you were running sand dunes all day, could get pretty wet on a muddy trail. thanks though

Thanks man, and I will take lots of pics if I go ahead, but haven't actually and fully committed to this project yet. Still on the fence, trying to find the right quad, I really need a roller to look at and see if this will be feasible to keep the motor high enough up and just how I'm going to cool it etc.

Have you called Landon Taylor at the sled parlour in Carstairs. He's got lots of quads kicking around and is a hardcore rider and sledder. Last time I was talking to him, he was fitting his renegade with a turbo. He can probabllly help you out.
