Not sure if anyone has heard yet, but on the news last night there was a story about how our government wants to impose new legislation for back country riders. The NDP government wants back country sledders to have a specific license and could possibly impose fines for going out during avalanche warnings. This seems to be a infringement on human rights, as well as just another cash grab. When someone is lost in the back country it truly is a tragedy that get felt through out the whole community as you can tell by the tremendous support seen on this site. However to have to government decide what days we can enjoy this and to pose fines on our freedoms seems to be another tragedy of sort. If anyone has heard or is knowing of further information on this please post here.

NDP......AAAAAHHHHHH Nuts! However, like it or not. "Infringement of our rights" or not we all know that change in one form or another is inevitable at this point. Lets just hope some of it is reasonable and somehow serves a purpose.

What you're seeing right now is knee jerk public "political" posturing, mostly for the media's benefit. There are going to be changes, but let's just wait and see what they are. Well....not wait and see so much as contribute to the process that develops them. The BCSF will be all over this I'm sure, once again fighting for all of us while we go riding. We need to give Les and a lot of others wayyyy more credit and support than we have been!

It sure wouldn't surprise me to see whomever requires rescuing be on the hook for the cost of the rescue. I haven't heard that this is coming, just saying!!
