I finally found what was giving me so much grief for the last 500 miles. For everybody that doesn't know I added a Terra Alps kit at the start of this season, this is not relevant to this case but just to clarify that I have had problems shortly after adding it and could not figure it out.
This is what was happening....I could not pull rpm anything above 7100 rpms, I could pull through the bog using Nitrous at first and then it would not even do that. Basically it was bogged down above 7100 rpms. I then pulled it down and returned it to stock thinking it was the kit. I had the same problems after that as well. Talking to many dealers and techs we came across this case.
A guy came in and said his sled wouldn't run right. After two hours of testing to no a vale, they pulled all the fuel and put in regular fuel 89 octane or what ever it is. The sled ran flawless. The fuel that they took out was a race fuel mix.
In this case the engine was being over fueled as a result of the fuel having to much octane?
Better fuel requires less to make it run proper?
Poor fuel requires more to make the engine run proper?
Not my area of expertise but I went with it.
I have in my tank good old McBride dyed boat fuel 91 octane. I might add that this the only fuel that has been in the sled all year as I have not rode or fuel up anywhere else. With the PCV controller installed with the kit that I had on. I took that and adjusted the fuel map at the top end to take 5% fuel away and the bogging issues has all but gone away. The sled now runs like it should pulling 8150 RPMs.
Just some information that I thought I would throw out there for everyone to see. If you sled is not running proper and you think its fuel try putting in some lesser octane or buy a fuel programmer.
